Brian Haney is the President and COO of Kinsale Capital Group, a company that specializes in excess and surplus insurance, providing coverage for risks that other insurers avoid. On Dec 6th, Brian joined us for a session to share his expertise in managing high-risk insurance and leading a publicly traded company. He explained complex topics like how insurance works in catastrophe-prone areas, such as Florida, and how Kinsale uses innovative strategies to maintain financial strength and stability.
With a strong background in actuarial science and leadership, Brian has played a key role in shaping Kinsale into a leading specialty insurer. His journey from technical roles to top leadership highlights the importance of adaptability, teamwork, and strategic thinking. Brian’s session gave us a better understanding of the role insurance plays in our economy and the skills it takes to succeed in the industry. Asit Sharma
Equity Research Analyst at The Motley Fool
Asit Sharma is a Senior Analyst and Lead Advisor at The Motley Fool, where he contributes to the Stock Advisor program and several real-money portfolios. On November 7th, Asit joined us for a session where he shared his insights on investing, focusing on small, fast-growing companies and new stocks with innovative potential. I especially loved how he connected with us by discussing companies that high schoolers know and enjoy, like ELF, Wingstop, and Chipotle.
With a background as a Certified Public Accountant, Asit has also worked as a CFO for a manufacturing company and as a business consultant, giving him a solid foundation in finance and strategy. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and earned a master’s degree in English Literature from NYU, which adds a thoughtful approach to his work. Asit believes in finding great companies to invest in for the long term, spreading out investments to manage risk, and staying calm during market ups and downs. His journey has taught him that patience and learning from experience are key to being a successful investor.

John Froman
Investment Banking Analyst at Bank of America
John Froman currently works as an Investment Banking Analyst at Bank of America in New York, a position he began in July 2023. Before this, he had an opportunity to work as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at the same company during the summer of 2022. Through these experiences, he learned about financial analysis, creating financial models, and working on deals with clients, which helped him prepare for his current role.
John studied finance at the University of Notre Dame, where he also took classes in history and entrepreneurship to build a broader understanding of the business world. He has always been committed to learning and growing in the field, earning certifications like "Python for Finance" to enhance his skills. His journey shows a clear focus on investment banking and a dedication to becoming an expert in the field
